Technician Class Amateur Radio License Course - November 12/14 and 19/21, Sunnyvale, CA

If you are into to Rovers, exploring the back country and are not a HAM you should be! A Ham radio offers much greater range than CB's, they are much clearer, more reliable and they might actually save you in an emergency, off-road or at home.

The NCRC is conducting a Ham radio license course which will span four two hour sessions over a two week period (Tues-Thurs on both weeks). This is your opportunity to learn the necessary information to study and pass the 35 question entry level Technician Class FCC Amateur Radio License Examination. There is NO requirement for morse code for this license class!

The Technician Class (no code) license grants voice communication privileges above 50MHz, which allows license holders the capability of using the popular 2 meter and 70cm frequency bands with transmit power levels considerably higher than that permitted for CB's. With high quality ham radio equipment and a little operating experience, you can reliably communicate down the trail or over hundreds of miles.

We will try and cover as much of the necessary material in four class sessions. Ham radio license testing sessions are administered at several locations around the Bay Area. Upon completion of the course and a little outside study time, you will need to attend an official FCC VEC test session to take the actual test (the NCRC is not qualified to administer tests).

The cost is $35.00 per person, payable at the first class session, make checks out to the "NCRC". This fee covers all class sessions, refreshments and the cost of the Technician Class License Manual (which is about $20).

Please register via email to the contact address listed below so a class size count can be made and enough manuals can be purchased prior to the class. If anyone has any suggestions or preferences for refreshments (other than beer), please let us know. Since we have allot of material to cover in a short time, please be on time to class sessions. NCRC members who are already hams are welcome to join and help out.

When: November 12/14 and 19/21 (consecutive Tue/Thur).
Time: 7pm-9pm all four dates.
Where: Analogictech, 830 East Arques Avenue, Sunnyvale CA, 94085.
