Pismo Beach - September, 13-15 Pismo Beach
What better than a run down the beach and through the dunes? FYI, this area may be shut to OHV traffic in the future so if you’ve ever wanted to get out on the sand, consider this trip.
1. Accommodations: We will provide space on a first come first serve basis. Most of the space has already been reserved. Inquire by sending an email to johnbaudendistel@aol.com. I will be departing at 12Pm tomorrow.
2. Alternative accomodations: Contact Cambria Vacation Rentals at 800-927-8200. They may be able assist you with a vacation home to stay in Cambria, CA
3. Camping: Contact Oceano State Park. 805-473-7223. Space is on a first come first serve basis. They slow up considerably after Labor Day. Try their web site for more information. There are also other camping facilities in the area.
9/13: Fri: Day: Arrivals at our place in Cambria, CA. Most of the available space has already been reserved. Inquire by sending an email to johnbaudendistel@aol.com
9/14: Sat: Day: Depart Cambria 8:30am to Pismo beach arriving at the gates at 9:30am. Others may meet up with us at the gate at 9:30-10:00AM. Arrive in the morning at low tide to cross the river to get to the 4WD area. A high tide crossing would be more difficult. I'll bring my pull pall for recoveries. If you have one bring it, as there are no trees. Bring a bag lunch, beverages and something for the grill and your beverages for Sat pm.
9/14 Sat: Evening: 6:00 PM drive back to Cambria, CA BBQ on the deck. Location: 401 Hastings Street, Cambria, CA 93428. For those who meet on Sat. at the gate you may follow us back for the BBQ. For specific directions you may email me at johnbaudendistel@aol.com. Or do a Yahoo Maps before you leave.
9/15: Sun: AM. Open day. We will likely have breakfast on the deck or go into Cambria for breakfast, TBD. Shopping is available in Cambria as well as ocean kayaking just up the road. Hearst Castle is just 15 miles north from our home. If you want to tour Hearst Castle on Sunday make reservations ahead of time call 800-444-4445.
Directions: Caravan down to Cambria, CA. Best route is 101 S to 46 West to Cambria. It is 3.5 hours door to door from Castro Valley. From the South bay it will be much quicker. If one is leaving on Friday night get past S.J. before 3pm and you will make sunset in Cambria.
Communications: Cellular coverage is weak as you get closer to the coast.

Other: Vehicle inspections will be completed as well as NCRC waivers required of all participants.
