Rover fishing trip - November 1-3, Bowman Lake, CA
Mike Ku and I are organizing a fishing/camping/wheeling trip Nov. 1-3rd to
the Bowman lake area of the Tahoe NF. This is a spectacular area with
granite bowl lakes. The fish are biting between Oct. and Nov. as they put
on weight for the winter. There is fly, trolling and bait fishing
opportunities in the area. I know the lakes and have fished most of them,
some as recently as three months ago. There are many great camping spots
that will fit a group. For those that want to wheel during the day and
rejoin those fishing at camp in the evening there are several options.
There are days of great trails (well mapped) that are a 1 to 3 on a 1-10
scale. The top of the famous Fordice trail is also near for anyone that
wants a 7 to 10 trail challenge. It will be cold at night even with good
weather during the day. One note, the road is open until the first big
snow. In past years this has come in mid to late Nov. or as early as Oct.
It's a game of chance. There is the possibility of a big snow canceling
this trip but we think it's maybe a 10% chance. It's late in the year and
it will be cold but the fish should be easy to catch. We will be building a
camp fire every night! We currently have two canoes with electric trolling
motors going.
We will meet at the Circle K/76 gas station at Suisun Valley Rd. off I 80
at 10AM Friday Nov 1st. (134 PITTMAN Rd. SUISUN CITY). We will caravan up I
80 to HWY 20 where we turn West on 20 for just a few miles to Bowman lake
road. We then proceed out BLR to Bowman lake where we turn left up the 4x4
road to Weaver lake. If the Weaver lake camp site is full we will be at the
Sawmill lake camp site. CB-4 FRS/GMRS 4_23. If you have any questions
